Die Reparatur von Leistenbrüchen gehört zu den häufigsten chirurgischen Eingriffen weltweit (> 20 Millionen/Jahr). Rezidive und anhaltende postoperative Schmerzen sind die beiden Hauptprobleme nach einer Leistenhernienreparatur. Beide werden durch das implantierte Netzmaterial beeinflusst.
